Thursday July 28th Part 4
We walked around the area for a while and took some photos of the landscape and the fake green David statue in the square.
We tried to order supper from the cafe on the terrace overlooking the upcoming sunset bit the waiters could not have been moving any slower so we opted for burgers and fries up at the top. We found some seats on the stairs with the other thousand people who had recently arrived to watch the sunset from the highest tourist spot in Firenze (Florence). There were tour groups and people of every culture and every country imaginable. There were many more English speaking tourists and vendors than Rome.
As the sun dolled onto the mountainside, tourists everywhere were in awe of the beauty of the valley from far above. Thus would be one lovely romantic place for a couple (not so much for old married farts with their two teenage boys ;) )
A bride and groom did a photo shoot below us on a terrace. People filled in every niche as we watched the sun set into the horizon followed by cheering and a round of applause. Many people stayed but the rest of us declined down the switchback paths to the river and down the streets lit by only dim lamplight to our flat at Via Laura 58. It was nice and cool as we recounted the events of the day and were blessed to have seen all we did in the short time we had in this beautiful city. Travel day again tomorrow!
