Saturday July 30th part 2
I could have sat out in that ocean all afternoon. We went in and out of the ocean many times but it was overcast most of the day. I actually the clouds burned off after 2 p.m. and it was screaming hot for the rest of the day. I went to the little man seem to get some beverages for a. I bought a draft beer and a small ice cream hey love lemon margarita for Krista and I share. Wow did it have a kick.
We sent Jacob off with 20 year old to try to buy a football or bouncy ball of some type to for a in the water and he returned with one that only cost to Europe. We spent the entire afternoon playing with it in the water and unfortunately hitting numerous people numerous times and apologizing an hour English and broken Italian.
Call the most amazing things about being on this Beach was the number of people who were wearing swimming apparel without any worries about being judged by anyone else. They're appeared to be no body shaving whatsoever as hundreds of oversized women were wearing the tiniest of bikinis and grown men of all ages were a door running a speedo and not getting it any second thought. What's freedom for people to not have to worry about how they look and just live their lives and enjoy the beach and one another company without judgment. It really was quite outstanding and something you would not likely be in North America.
Silence reduce myself doing number of people and ask them where they were random people from all over the world including the Ukraine. I met a lovely couple with broken English and I had a conversation about their life style in crimea and how different it is this summer vs years of the past. For them it was much safer to come to Italy.
We met a girl from Louisiana who was working for the United States government base out of Germany who was just here for the weekend after playing to Milan for 50 Euro from Berlin. What in opportunity to see Europe when you can fly anywhere so cheaply with a carry on bag at no cost at her age.
We had had enough sunshine by 430 p.m. and decided to catch the train back home, shower and change for our supper out back in Monterosso.
Bruce and Cindy had had supper there last month on the ocean and recommended we go so we had our condo owner make us a reservation last week.
We grabbed the 618 train back to Monterosso and walked south up the cliff face seeking Laneola della Tortuga - the nicest restaurant in Cinque Terre. We thought we would spoil ourselves on our last night in the southwest.
We found a table overlooking the ocean with a calligraphied card with Krista's name on it.
We sat and perused the menu. Prices from 15 - 40 Euro was much more reasonable that we had expected.
We ordered 2 pops and a delicious bottle of summer Moscato.
The boys ordered steak and pork loin. Krista ordered Sea bass with a starter of Risotto and a huge local salad. I ordered the Grandaddy multicombo special. It had everything imaginable starting with a fish soup jammed with fresh local mussels, an octopus salad, prawns and potatoes and a giant anchovie stuffed with pesto salad. Wow.
The boys' plates arrived with enough food for 5 people and they couldnt stop talking about how delicious it was. Krista's risotto arrived with 4 shrimp on the side - eyeballs still attached! Ha! She wasn't ecstatic about that. The boys and I peeled them and inhaled them.
Supper was delicious and we were joined by a couple from Newfoundland Meg and Ryan who had just gotten in from Milan. Thru had gotten engaged in February but with his electrician work and her being a teacher this was the first they could get away.
We had a great visit catching up on their travels from London to Paris then Milan to here.
We finally got our bill at 1030 and headed to the train. It was another superb evening and one we will always remember of Cinque Terre in beautiful southern Italy.
