Sunday August 7th

Sunday August 7th

Hardly anyone moving too quickly this morning after such a late night last night.
We showered and made it down to breakfast for 930 and what a shock.  Full brunch with assorted cereals,  soft boiled eggs, cold cuts,  cheeses, fruit etc and you could order one hot main dish off the menu.  All included with your room.  What!!???
Krista and Jacob had Eggs Benedict while I had the Irish Platter - bacon,  black and white pudding (sausage), egg over easy, mushrooms and tomatoes. Yum! It even came with a latte!
After consuming all that food, we went for a walk downtown and check out the tour. We got bored and joined up with Morozs and Lukes and hiked all the way to the Charles Fort.
This place was really cool! For 10 Euro, we read up on all the history of skirmishes since the 6th century. It was extreme windy but it really brought to life what it must have been like centuries ago.
After a hour we hiked back but this time on the hiking paths and not the road.
When we got back to the hotel, we took all the kids swimming at the Acton Hotel down the street. We dared not move our car as we would never get another spot.
James and Krista sat by the pool but I thoroughly enjoyed the swim. After an hour we walked back to the hotel and showered to get ready for the pub night.
We had already hiked enough for one day so we caught a cab to the Bulman pub. We arrived and discovered that even though the entire pub was supposed to be for a post wedding event, a local name was playing and all the locals had no interest in leaving. Ha! Most people jammed into corners but quite a few people had to sit outside. Food was preordered and we were spoiled with freshly shucked oysters,  chicken,  sausage and fish.  we had a great fill and gave up our table and moved outside. Because the band was quite loud, our family headed back to the hotel with the Luke kids and came up with our own wacky plan for the evening.
Firstly we got Rhys to download some Geocaching sites and went off in search of a few. We found one but struggled with several others. We ran out of time so we quickly grabbed 6 giant soft ice cream cones and headed to one of the local pubs to start our evening Ghost Tour! !
The tour began with one fella taking our money and introducing the tour only to be literally chased off by another fella that accused him of taking the money when he didn't even work for the tour! Ha! Good try.

The second gentleman was lively, very humorous and spoke a mile a minute.  We walked up and down the streets of town learning history and every now and again the other fella would jump over a wall, or from behind a building and once out of a garbage can, each time with a mask on and scared the Bejeezus out of us.  The darker it got, the more we were scared! We kept trying to be prepared for the next time he would jump out but couldn't predict and it was fabulous!
We got back to the hotel at 1030 and most wives and kids shuffled off to bed but a dozen of us stayed up visiting really late as we were all departing in the morning and going our separate ways.  Another great day in beautiful Kinsale Ireland.
